The ways we give back

Our goal is to be part of the solution with respect to Maui tourism.

As overtourism becomes a concern on Maui, we are committed to giving back when and where we can.

Dive with Harmony is committed to being a role-model for working with the local community and officials and scientists to collect data as we dive along the shoreline of Maui. Additionally, we volunteer for the Turtle Rescue Team on Maui, which responds to injured turtles and proceeds from all of our merchandise are donated to MOC Marine Institute.

Our merchandise gives back

We specifically chose our shirts because they are made from 50% recycled polyester, 25% organic cotton, and 25% modal. A portion of the proceeds from our soft and comfy shirts, stylish hats are donated to Maui Ocean Center Turtle Rescue Team.

  • T-shirts - $35.00 each, $5.00 donation

  • Hats - $30.00 each, $3.00 donation

Monthly Cleanup

While we believe every dive is a clean up dive, we have organized monthly ocean cleanups since the origination of our business in 2020. All certified divers in the community (or visiting) are welcome. We provide tanks and gear on a first-come, first-serve basis. Free divers also welcome!

We also offer cleanup up dives as part of our ecotourism dive packages. Reserve your spot for our Cleanup Ecotour, where you will learn about the global trash problem, how we are in a unique position to help, and how to report the trash you collect during your dive to MAXIMIZE your impact.

Lead Removal, recycle, and Repurpose

Not only do we regularly collect lead sinker claws on our daily dives and monthly community cleanup events, we recycle them, and repurpose them in an environmentally safe way

One of our divemasters suggested we remove the claws and encase the lead in rubber and create our own dive weights! All of our lead in encased to ensure no more lead leeches into the coral.

As long as lead weight is needed, we are committed to repurposing all the lead we collect.

Truly Committed to the ocean

We are so committed to protecting the ocean and all things in it, we decided to Mery the Ocean in support of Blue Ring.

Blue Ring was founded on 2009 by a colleague of ours Alex Rose. All proceeds contribute to the funding of two 1,000-meter, dual-classed submersibles built by Deep Ocean Exploration and Research (DOER). These submarines will be used by Dr. Sylvia Earle to reveal oceanic discoveries. Additionally, Blue Ring funds globally important ocean exploration and conservation projects through the collective power of small purchases.

Sunscreen Awareness

Did you know your sunscreen can harm corals? Even though most sunscreens claim to be reef-friendly, often they still contain two very toxic chemicals: avobenzone and octocrylene, which are both hazard to the ocean ecosystem and our personal health - most reef friendly/safe sunscreen sold on the Mainland carry these harmful ingredients. It is against the law to use any non-mineral based sunscreen!

****Baby shampoo is horrible for the ocean! The inactive ingredients are bad but the ingredients that make it tearless are much worse. They list those as proprietary and are not disclosed! Most boats and dive shops use a water & baby shampoo mixture or just straight baby shampoo. If you notice this speak up.

we use stream2sea which is proven to be completely safe for use on humans and in any body of water while giving you what you need and not harming the ecosystem.
